Correct Toes is a potent foot health tool that can be used when performing certain key strengthening exercises to help enhance balance and foot stability. Having a strong, stable base of support can allow you to perform these exercises with proper alignment in the ankle, knee, and hip joints and generate more power throughout your whole body. The strengthening exercises demonstrated in this video include:
You can also wear Correct Toes when performing helpful foot and toe exercises with the BlackBoard Basic—a tilt and torsion board that permits a variety of stretching, strengthening, and mobility exercises. Using Correct Toes in combination with the BlackBoard Basic can help speed along positive changes in foot alignment and function. Indeed, having your toes in their intended anatomical position only enhances the effectiveness of the various BlackBoard exercises and is a simple and effective way to achieve synergistic foot health benefits.
As with any strengthening exercise, executing perfect form is essential to realizing lasting strength gains and minimizing the possibility of strains. Correct Toes can assist with this, but it's also important to pay close attention to the subtle movements depicted and described in this video as well as in the videos on this page that demonstrate how to use the BlackBoard Basic training platform.

When is it appropriate to perform modifications on my Correct Toes?

Natural Footgear
Hi, Jan. Thank you for your question. We usually find that modifications, or customizations, to Correct Toes toe spacers are best performed in situations where standard sizing or the design of the device does not fully address your specific needs (for most sets of feet, the spacers work well as is). In general, we’ve found that it’s best to use the toe spacers as they are constructed to ensure optimal alignment and function, but we recognize that each set of feet is unique and customizations may be necessary to ensure maximum comfort and the best possible fit.
If you experience discomfort (e.g., toe strain, rubbing, skin irritation, etc.) or excessive tightness when wearing the device, or if the toe spacers do not fit properly due to anatomical variations (e.g., relatively wide toes, or the presence of bunions or hammertoes), you might consider modifying the device to improve your comfort or address any alignment issues (assuming a different size is not going to work for you). In some cases, removing a portion of the device, trimming certain areas, or doing other modifications may help improve fit without compromising the spacers’ intended effect.
It’s important to note that, while a number of modifications are possible on any given spacer, excessive modifications could undermine the toe spacers’ ability to correctly align the toes, which could in turn reduce the effectiveness and longevity of the device. It’s essential that modifications preserve the primary function of Correct Toes—promoting natural toe splay, improving toe alignment, and enhancing overall foot health. You can find links to manufacturer-suggested Correct Toes customizations here:
We hope this info helps, Jan! Please reach back out with any questions should they arise.
