A Foot-Friendly Choice for Active Kids
The Astral Loyak Youth is a great footwear option for developing feet, as it largely stays out of the way of the foot and lets your child's foot flex, bend, and articulate in the way that nature intended. Durable, grippy, and comfortable, the Loyak Youth possesses an indestructible canvas upper and offers your child's foot a secure, glove-like fit. This easy-to-clean shoe works great for active outdoor play, and it can be used for anything from summer camps to beach trips to recess romps and beyond.
Designed to Support Musculoskeletal Health
Built with balanced geometry, the low stack height Astral Loyak Youth incorporates a level platform that encourages maximum foot and ankle stability, and its wide toe box protects and preserves the toe splay your child was born with. The highly-flexible sole of this dependable minimalist shoe allows for excellent ground feel and helps support your child's musculoskeletal health and development. The Loyak Youth's unique outsole material also provides your child with optimal traction on a variety of surfaces.
Can Be Paired With Other Helpful Footgear
The Astral Loyak Youth can be used with a wide variety of other helpful natural footgear, if need be. For example, you can use this shoe in combination with Correct Toes toe spacers to keep your child's toes perfectly aligned. Other beneficial items that your child can use inside these shoes include Injinji toe socks and Pedag metatarsal pads. You might also consider replacing the included (optional) liner with thin, textured Naboso insoles. Each lightweight Astral Loyak Youth shoe weighs about 6 oz.
Note: If your child is new to using Astral footwear, we recommend that he or she start in slowly, gradually building up wear-time and giving his or her body the chance to adapt to the thinner soles and the increased workload on the feet.

To get the most out of Astral Loyak Youth shoes, the manufacturer recommends that you order your child’s normal shoe size. For example, if your child normally wears a big kids' size 5 shoe, consider ordering a Y5 in the Astral Loyak Youth. If your child is between sizes, order up to the next available size.
If you're on the fence about what size to order for your child, consider ordering both sizes and then simply return the size that doesn't fit as well for a refund. If you have concerns about sizing, feel free to contact us or Astral customer service.
Sizing Tip #1: To create additional roominess within the shoe, we suggest removing the included (optional) shoe liner/insole; this action does not, in any way, affect the performance of the shoe. Optionally, and to enhance balance, posture, agility, and general foot/body awareness, you might consider adding thin, flexible Naboso insoles instead.
Sizing Tip #2: Correct Toes toe spacers will often add width and length to the foot. If you’re planning to have your child wear Correct Toes inside his or her footwear, we recommend sizing up, especially if he or she is on the border between sizes.
